OPERATING SYSTEM
This is software responsible for the control and allocation of hardware resources on the computer system. It is a program that allows the computer to function and also allow the user to internet with the computer. It is the first program that must be load into the computer memory before application software can be run. It is a graphic user interface program (GULP) which serves as a link between the computer and its user .operating  system is an example of system software.
            FUNCTIONS OF OPERATING SYSTEM
1.    It allows user to creat files, store files run and link program
2.    It also allow user to access printer and other peripheral 
TYPES OF OPERATING SYSTEM

1.    PC DOS(personal  operating system )
2.    MS DOS (micro soft disk operating system)
3.    WINDOW 95,97,98,and 2000 professional
4.    UNIX
5.    WINDOW XP
6.    VISITA
           HOW TO START COMPUTER
Power on the electricity terminal
Switch on the ups or stabilizer if your computer is connected to any.
Press the power button at the rear view of the system unit and that of monitor.
NOTE:
After pressing the power button, the computer will undergoes a booting process i.e loading your command into computer  memory and preparing your operating system for use.
Wait patiently until it completes the task.
          BOOTING
This is the process of starting operating system 
               TYPES OF BOOTING
1.    COLD BOOTING
2.    WARM BOOTING
                COLD BOOTING; This is the first process of loading system .this start immediately the computer is switch on from the switch. It gives the system the opportunity of checking  for possible errors before it finally gets to the desk top environment.
               WARM BOOTING; This occurs when the system refuses command. Then you choose ctrl +alt+ delete to restart the computer or during the process of shutting down the computer, you choose restart instead of short down in the dialog box.
                   HOW TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER
1.    Save  any file you to save
2.    Close all open program on the status bar
3.    Click on shut down
4.    Shut down dialog box or turn off computer click ok
5.    A message display, it is now safe to turn off your computer
6.    Now power the system unit off by pressing the power button in front of the monitor and that of the system unit.
