COMPUTER PROFESSIONALS/PEOPLE WARE

Computer professionals are the people that specialized in using computer to do one thing or the other. They are people who made use of computer. Computer professionals undergo serious training in their field of study, so that he or she will master its field and become professional in the field.

Some of the computer professionals are.

1.                  COMPUTER MANAGER

Computer manager is someone that specialized in the control and management of computer business. Computer manager makes decisions on how a particular job should be done.

2.                  COMPUTER SCIENTIST

Computer scientist is a person that specializes in using computer to do any type of work developing computer software, repair and maintenance of computer system. Computer scientist can be computer Analyst, computer instructor, computer vendor, computer software Engineer or programmer, computer hardware Engineer etc. If you call a computer scientist a computer Doctor you are not making a mistake, because a sound computer scientist takes good care of the computer system, both the hardware and the software. Computer scientist studied computer science in school. You can be a computer scientist, just choose a science course, put computer science in your JAMB (pure science courses) and you will be there.

3.                  COMPUTER ENGINEER/HARDWARE ENGINEER

Computer engineer is a person that specializes in maintaining and repairing of computers. Computer Engineer studies how computer processes data; he knows what is going on inside the system when data is processed. A Sound computer Engineer can build his own motherboard or computer peripheral and assemble the system as well. Computer Engineer studies computer engineering in school.

4.                  PROGRAMMER/SOFTWARE ENGINEER

This is someone that specialized in writing or developing software or programs. They give instruction to computer and direct computer on what to do. Programmer uses instruction in any high-level languages to develop a program or software. Programmer must have full knowledge in some Programming languages such as(C++, JAVA,COBOL, BASIC etc) to enable him/her take full control of computer and to be able to direct computer on what to do by giving it instruction or writing a program. Computer scientist can be a programmer.

5.                  COMPUTER INSTRUCTOR/EDUCATOR/TEACHER

This is someone that teaches computer in any of computer school. Computer instructor knows some of the application packages in computer. Computer instructor knows the theory and practical aspect of computer. Computer instructor can also repair and maintain computer. Computer instructor may attend any computer schools. It is not must that he or she will attend higher institution, but at least one should attain any form of computer knowledge, so as to teach the right thing to the students.

6.                  COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

Computer technician does the same work as computer engineer but may not undergo professional training in computer engineering as computer engineer. He/she repairs and maintains computer system based on the level of knowledge he/she acquired. Computer technicians do not have professional certificate/degree in computer engineering but he/she can repair minor fault in computer .Example, road side computer repairers.

7.                  COMPUTER ANALYST/SYSTEM ANALYST

Computer analyst analyzes data and any computer problem. He/she specialized in given advice to people on computer issues. He/she solve any computer problem depending on the level of his/her understanding .Computer analyst/ system analyst may be computer scientist, he/she studies computer science as a course in university. He can be able to setup computer business centre, computer laboratories, repair computer etc.

8.                  NETWORKING ENGINEER

Networking engineer is a person who specializes in linking group of people, computer etc or group of broadcasting stations.

     Computer networking engineer is a person who specializes in linking or connecting computer together that can share data .This interconnectivity comprises of connecting printers, computer terminals, telephone, scanners, and audio visual display devices via transmission media so as to enhance an effective communication. All and more are the work of networking engineer. Computer networking engineer studied computer science or computer engineering while in school.

9.                  COMPUTER OPERATOR

Computer operator uses computer to prepare documents, design graphics, etc. computer operator uses computer to perform any type of work. Computer operator normally attends computer school. They sometimes work in business centers and offices. Anybody that makes use of computer is a computer operator. Computer operator doesn’t need to go to higher institution before operating computer, he or she can learn computer through reading of textbooks or attend computer training school.

10.             COMPUTER VENDOR

This is someone that sells computer. Computer vendor buys computer from the manufactures or dealers and sell to the public. Computer vendor sell computers for the purpose of making profit .Computer vendor must be a computer literate to enable him or she know the parts to sell to the costumers. Computer vendor sometimes need to know the maintenance and repair of computer to enable him do some installations and maintain system for the customers .Educated computer vendor is also computer scientist. Some people go into vendor without attending any computer education or higher institution.

11.             COMPUTER POLICY MAKER

These are people who make laws concerning the manufacture and use of computer. 

12.     COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS

          They are the people who produce computer.
