A widow is a rectangular area on the desktop through which a program can receive input and also allow the user and the program to interact.
                VERSIONS OF MS WINDOWS ARE:
Windows 95,Windows 98, windows 2000, windows XP {Experience}windows ME {Millennium Edition},Windows NT {New technology}, windows vista, wi8ndows 7, windows 8 etc
Note that Ms Windows is based on the technology of the graphical user interface
{GUI} this simply means that all the operations on file directories and disk commands are used by means of icons, tools menu. GUI is the technology of working with the computer system by using pictures instead of issuing commands to the computer by typing them on the key board; you can simply perform some actions on graphic using the mouse.

ADVANTAGES OF MS WINDOWS
·        An MS window allows the user to run more than one program {Application} at a time.

·        It is possible to share data very easily among window programs.            
·        It reduces dependence on the keyboard i.e. the operation can be performed using the mouse.
·        It also allows the personal computer to communicate with one another.
·        It adds power and flexibility to dos based on personal computer system.
                            
MEANING OF SOME WORDS AS USED IN MS WINDOWS
·        DESKTOP: Desktop is the background area of the screen that appears few seconds when the computer is switched on.
·  ICON:  Icons are images or pictures that appear on the window screen or a pictorial representation of an item or program on the desktop.
SOME IMPORTANT ICON ON THE DESKTOP
·        MY DOCUMENTS: This is a place where files are kept.
·         MY COMPUTER: It helps you to utilize or see the resources in your computer.
·        INTERNET EXPLORER: This links or connects you to internet.
·        NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD: This helps you to see all other computer within the locality.
·        RECYCLE BIN: This is a place or box where deleted files are kept temporary for further deleting.
·        FOLDER: It is a place or box where similar files are saved examples:
             My desktop, floppy disk, my computer etc
